Love Crisis - When Love is tested...

Love makes the world go round but the rides make it more worthwhile...

Till Gray Hair

October 27th 2010 19:58
Love is in the air...: Faith
Love is forever
Love

The couple sitting side by side, talking softly, not minding the commotion around, just enjoying each others' company. What a beautiful sight to see! It was so serene and a peaceful picture of love, true and lasting love that they have shared till their hair turned gray. A communal love so true, it did not matter gray hair roofed their heads after years of being together, good and bad times included. The picture perfect of true love that is becoming scarce to find these days. Love is no longer as respected as it used to be. Love is no longer that special as it was for the lovers. Love is becoming just another thing to do while here on earth.

It was at this moment that I envision my life someday, with my other half beside me, sharing jokes, just the two of us and full of love. Maybe, reminiscing those days of disagreements, togetherness, supporting each other through thick and thin... Or maybe the moment I realized how madly in love was I with my other half? We can also talk about how to better our relationship, gray hair or not. That love should always be there, always reminding our oneness, our individuality and as one family.

I would like to see myself, as gray as my hair, deepens my love for my other half and likewise. Too bad my other half shows a lot of gray hair by now. But, doesn't true love waits endlessly? I may have to wait for that moment...

The couple who are in their eighties, walks hand and in hand to our spot as we were preparing to leave. We had some pleasantries and a short conversation.

Me: Why are you two sitting in the corner?
Wife: I was getting tired from standing and thought of taking a short break to sit and enjoy my snacks. Then my husband came to join me. We just sit there and watch everybody.
Me: That's sweet...( with a smile)
Husband: I don't want her to be alone by herself so I joined her.
Me: That's really sweet of you. I wish my husband is as sweet as you. (laughing out loud)
Husband: You know, I learned something from an old lady when I was teenager and we just started as a couple. This lady told me the secret to a woman's heart is by taking care of her all the time with a lot of surprises.
Me: Is that so? I wish my husband would surprise me a lot. I really wished it in my heart, quietly talking to myself...

The conversation was so short, yet it leaves a strong consciousness on my mind. The impression that this man truly loves his wife, that this young at heart man always take the time to show his love for the lucky wife. Love and respect is important to keep the love forever in one's heart. Another incident showed how the husband, not only good in words but also in action. I have witnessed this one incident and admired his enormous love for her.

I was a volunteer, helping with the decorations for the coming Christmas season and they were helping as well. Everybody was busy doing each little space when all of a sudden there was big thump, like something heavy fell to the floor. Unfortunately, it was not something that fell but it was Anna, the wife (by now, I have learned their names as Fred and Ann). She had a misstep and fell out of balance, landed on the floor with a bruise on one arm while trying to grab on something, hoping to keep her from falling down. It was a hard fall that she lost her consciousness.

I was on the other side of the hall and saw a commotion but never thought it was something serious, I ran anyway to see if there is anything to be helpful about. I offered my menthol block that is always in my purse for situations like this, hold the menthol close to her nose and it surely woke her up.

Fred was pacing around, tense yet trying to calm himself but was so nervous he seem helpless by the look of his face. He was not talking but you can tell how he wished he was there to catch her before she hits the floor. That look of love on his face, wishing he did more than just wait and keep asking if she is alright or go to the doctor. Ann firmly stressed that she was okay, suggesting that she go home and lie down, hoping there was nothing serious. Finally, Fraed motion to everyone that he will take Ann home so she can rest. He went to get the car, parked it close to the entrance door and helped Ann get in the car.

It was a very short momentum but the impact was so great. Love never fails to keep loving the other person till gray hair. Fortunately, nothing serious impacted the fall and was glad it turned out happy ending.
