Smoking can be a big problem in relationships. It can make it very difficult having both a non smoker and a smoker together if one party is not willing to compromise.
So question of the week is: How do I give up smoking? My partner hates it!
Well folks it's actually really quite easy, I should know because I did it and so can you. All you have to do is learn to hate it! No pills, no patches, no surgery, nothing. Cold turkey I guess. But you really need to learn to hate it and I mean HATE it!!!
You've got to find a key reason, not just some lame arse excuse for the moment. It must be pure hatred! It could be something simple like having to wash your clothes or hair every time you're around cigarettes. Or something deep like the fact someone you know died of cancer, so you blame cigarettes! But whatever the decision you come to, it must be of pure hate.
It is all mind over matter people, if you can't manage that, well, you won't ever give it up, simple as that! In all honesty, you either want to give it up or you don't. There is no in between when it comes to smoking.
Doing it for someone else won't help you quit. It's a personal thing, something deep within you and they aren't there! You can be bitched at for a millennium and it still won't help you quit! So if you don't truly want to quit, then don't bother, you're just wasting your willpower, time and energy. Move on to someone that can handle it!
When you hook up with someone you must like and appreciate the entire package. When you realise you don't, then move on. But if you are truly willing to compromise with this situation and it works for the both of you, then do it, and leave it at that. But if this is an ongoing issue that keeps being brought up, it's time for you both to move on.
